Ken Krakow                 Commercial and Industrial Photographer for Georgia and the Southeast

Many buildings face north and the light from the sun never hits the front of them. If they are
photographed  on a sunny day there is an ugly dark shadow across the front. Shot on a cloudy day
the building looks dull and the sky is blank as you can see in the left hand photograph. Also, it was
the middle of winter and the trees look terrible.  I took one of my stock backgrounds and digitally
placed the building in front of it. I then increased the saturation and contrast slightly to produce the
finished image on the right.

The client loved the shot but not the IV

This is an illustration for an article on seafood.  We didn't have time to drive the 200 miles to the shore for the shot so two images were combined.

The first was a personal shot provided by the woman doing the article,  I made the second shot in her backyard.

We positioned  the table to get the shadows correct. The sheet held behind the food helped to make the masking easier.

The finished illustration is completely convincing.
